About the event

ABOUT THE CLASS

Ryland has helped numerous trans and non-binary clients find their authentic voice. Dive into the intricacies of gender-coded vocal patterns and gain essential knowledge as both a speaker and a listener. All gender identities are warmly welcomed. Students will participate in an interactive lecture where Ryland will guide them through different techniques to manipulate their range in a safe and authentic way.

This lecture-based class fosters student engagement, allowing participation from home studios or any location. While a high-quality microphone isn't necessary, webcam and microphone access are strongly encouraged.

ABOUT RYLAND

Ryland Shelton is a vocal coach, studio vocals producer, stage & performance director, and workshop leader.   His time as a coach is spent both with a formidable roster of recording and performing artists, as well as with trans and gender diverse clients who engage with his renowned original gender-affirming voice curriculum - TrueVoice Vocal Development - to achieve a speaking voice that most authentically expresses them in the world.   The center drive in Ryland's life and career is the fulfillment of authenticity and ownership of expression that is available but elusive for so many humans. His extensive research and experience into the connotations and relationship of voice and identity is ongoing and manifests perennially in new achievements and collaborations.  His childhood was spent in Iowa, his education and formative years in New York City (NYU Steinhardt School of Education, Shauna Kanter’s VoiceTheatre, William Esper Studios, wobble modern dance theatre), and his home and career are based in Los Angeles.
